robolink – Articulated modules for robots
Frequently Asked Questions

What angular positions are possible?

pivoting motion

± 90° (-->180° total)

rotation

± 270° (-->540° total / 1.5 rotations)

What torques can be transmitted?

pivoting motion

Transmittable torque: 12Nm
required drive force (rope tension force): 600N

rotation

Transmittable torque: 5Nm
required drive force (rope tension force): 300N

What is the weight of a robolink?

350g

What is included in the supply?

Plastic joint

Ropes (assembly possible)

Bars/connecting pipes in custom lengths and materials

Is the robolink multi-axis joint produced in different sizes?

No, currently not!

Can you combine several robolink multi-axis joints in a row?

At present a maximum of two robolink multi-axis joints can be switched in a row; further optimization work is going on.

How many degrees of freedom does the robolink multi-axis joint have?

Two degrees of freedom: Pivoting and rotating movement.

Which ropes are used?

Material: Dyneema®
Number of ropes per joint: four (two ropes per degree of freedom)

What are the dimensions of the robolink multi-axis joint?

With what material is the robolink multi-axis joint made of?

Joint: Fine polyamide 2200

Bearing: iglidur® J

Screws: V2A

What rope channels are needed to implement the movements?

The internal diameter of rope in the joint is d = 50 mm.

Rope channel for the movement of (rotating/pivoting motion):
90° = π x d/4 ≈ 39 mm
180° = π x d/2 ≈ 79 mm
360° = π x d ≈ 160 mm

What sensors are used?

Angle sensors
